Getting Serious about the Bible

The great discovery is that the Bible is a message system: it's not simply 66 books penned by 40 authors over thousands of years, the Bible is an integrated whole which bears evidence of supernatural engineering in every detail!

**Daniel Bible Study**

Daniel

Author: Daniel (cf Dan 9:2, 10:2, Matt 24:15 & Dan 9:27)

Date: Written by about 530 B.C., shortly before Cyrus captured Babylon in 539 B.C.

Daniel was the son of a nobleman and was raised in Judah until he taken to Babylon in the first attack and deportation by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. God allowed Babylon to conquer Judah as judgment for idolatry and for failing to keep the sabbath years for the land. However, those who were exiled to Babylon were treated well and were able to start farms and vinyards, and even, like Daniel and his friends, to rise to the highest positions in government. God's sovereignty over the kingdoms of men is a primary theme of the book, and Daniel's visions always show God's foreknowledge and power in regard to world kingdoms, including prophecying the very day that the Messiah the King of Kings would ride into Jerusalem.

Most reasonably informed Christians are well aware that many of the traditions that surround the Christmas holidays have pagan origins and very little correlation with the actual events as recorded in the Bible.
