The great discovery is that the Bible is a message system: it's not simply 66 books penned by 40 authors over thousands of years, the Bible is an integrated whole which bears evidence of supernatural engineering in every detail!
Author: Luke, a Greek physician and faithful friend of Paul.
Date: Written A.D.59-63. His gospel was written as a companion book to Acts, which ends with Paul under house arrest in Rome.
Luke's gospel is an extremely well written work, full of rich vocabulary that reveals its writer's excellent education, and revealing many details of Jesus life and ministry that other accounts leave out. He writes to one Theophilus "that thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed," having personally investigated the history of Jesus' life through the testimonies of eyewitnesses (Luke 1:2-4). He focuses on Jesus' mission on earth as the "Son of Man" who brings Salvation to a very human world.
