KI Devotional:

Two Things We Cannot Live Without

by Dan Stolebarger, Director of Koinonia Institute

Take a moment to read over the following passages for within lies the answer to the proposed question: “What are the two things that we, as individuals as well as a nation, cannot live without?”

Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.

Psalm 25:5

Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill, And to Your tabernacle.

Psalm 43:3

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face.

Psalm 89:14

Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.

Jeremiah 33:6

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:32

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:6

Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

John 17:17

(God) who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:4

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

Now go back and have a “selah” with the above words of God, because they hold the keys to life and effective living! Today the concept of TRUTH is under attack. This should come as no surprise to us, given the fact that our adversary is the complete antithesis to truth. He, after all, is the father of all lies and the foundations of his kingdom are built upon delusion and deceit. It is no surprise that he opposes truth, but let’s also look at our culture and the politically correct doctrine of our day that imposes the concept that there is no absolute truth, thus truth is relative.

This dilution has caused great harm in the Body of Christ today; simply put, no one is telling the TRUTH anymore! The results are obvious; we are living in a desolate wasteland and under the tyranny of bondage. Only TRUTH can set us free! The question that we must ask is the same one Pilate asked of Christ: “What is Truth?”

The words of the LORD are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times. You shall keep them, O LORD, You shall preserve them from this generation forever.

Psalm 12:6-7

...and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:15-17

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

1 John 16:13

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether; More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.

Psalm 19:7-11

The Word of God is the second thing we cannot live without, and it holds the key to establishing what is and what is not TRUTH. Let us embrace the Word and be a voice that will be heard for This Generation!

Please conclude this article by reflecting on the closing passages:

This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah.

Psalm 24:6

Thus says the LORD: “I will return to Zion, And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, The Mountain of the LORD of hosts, The Holy Mountain.”

Zechariah 8:3

But if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

1 Timothy 3:15
