How We Got Our Bible How We Got Our Bible
How Do We Know

  • Where did our Bible come from? How good are the texts?
  • Why do we believe its origin is supernatural?
  • How do we know that it really is the Word of God?
  • How accurate are our translations?
  • Which version is the best?

What Happens When You Die?

We don't like to think about death. It's not a pleasant subject, and we avoid even discussing it seriously or giving it any diligent study. Yet our appointment with death is the most certain event in our future. We all know of personal examples when death has come suddenly to people, without warning, without preparations; car accidents, stray bullets, unforeseen strokes. When it comes our time, what do we expect death to be like? How will we enter eternity?

HAPPY NEW YEAR! - (Print)

The New Year is traditionally a time for reflecting on the past, and more importantly, looking forward to the future. It is also a time to consider the changes we want (or need) to make in our lives, and to resolve to follow through on those changes. A typical list of New Year's resolutions might include things like losing weight, exercising more, quitting bad habits, or spending more time with family and friends. However this year, as you're setting your objectives for the next twelve months, don't forget to establish some spiritual goals for yourself.

At the start of each New Year we like to issue a challenge to our readers: what are you going to do this year to grow in your spiritual walk? You could resolve to spend more time in prayer, memorize scripture verses, share your faith with a neighbor, begin a new verse-by-verse study of a book of the Bible, or perhaps even start a Bible study in your home. If you are serious about digging deeper into the Word, but you aren't sure where to begin, we have lots of resources on our website to help get you started.

We now have verse-by-verse audio commentaries on every book of the Bible as well as a wide selection of topical Bible studies to choose from. Also, be sure to check out all of the new courses being offered by Koinonia Institute. You can earn undergraduate and graduate course credits for studying the Bible, you can even earn your PhD, as some of our students have already done. Go online to studycenter.com to learn more about this unique and exciting opportunity.

Koinonia House is not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to create, development, and distribute materials for encouraging and facilitating serious study of the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. We would like to thank everyone whose prayers and financial support have helped us to continue in that mission this past year. Don't forget that your donations are tax deductible. (If you need a last-minute tax break there is still time, just make sure your donation is post-marked on or before December 31. If you can't get to the post office today you can also make a donation online.)

On behalf of everyone here at Koinonia House the eNews staff would like to wish you a happy New Year. May God bless you in the coming year with a deeper understanding of the Word and His will for your life.

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation
