Introduction:
Tolerance is the buzz word ricocheting around politically correct circles over the past few years. BBC Offers Different Account of Crucifixion - With his arms outstretched, his legs straight and his hands nailed to the cross, it is the image of Jesus's crucifixion held dear by Christians for centuries. But now the producers of a BBC drama about Christ's final days have challenged the traditional representation, saying they believe Jesus probably did not die that way. Instead of portraying Christ with his arms out wide and his legs straight down, The Passion will show him nailed to the cross in a fetal position, with his arms above his head and nails through his arms - the way, the producers claim, he may well have been crucified by the Romans.
Christian Shops in Egypt Burned - Police arrested at least seven Egyptian Muslims after a riot in the southern city of Isna on Sunday that left at least 13 Christian-owned shops smashed up or burned and a church front damaged. They said a car and a motorcycle owned by Christians were also burned and it appeared the rioters had attempted to burn the church.
Golden Compass Movie Stirs Controversy - The new movie "The Golden Compass", which is based on the first book in the "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Philip Pullman, has received criticism both for being anti-religious and for not being anti-religious enough. The author is is a self-professed atheist and a supporter of the British Humanist Association and some of his fans complain the anti-religious sentiment in the book has been watered-down too much for theater audiences. Meanwhile some Christian critics believe the trilogy is meant to be a direct rebuttal of C.S. Lewis' series "The Chronicles of Narnia."
