Back to School

It’s coming! The papers and all the media outlets are getting us ready! It is the annual event that always brings about mixed emotional reviews. On one hand it means that summer is coming to an end and that evokes a certain emotion; on the other hand, the cool crisp breeze that begins to blow proclaims that Fall is coming and that means that it is BACK TO SCHOOL time!

For mommies and kiddos of all ages, it means it is time for a new wardrobe and it is also time to gather all the new gizmos that we call school supplies. Hope springs eternal … kids go back to school to learn, make new friends and new routines must be established.

These new routines can be good for us because they allow us a fresh start. No matter what your age may be, we all are life-long learners when it comes to our walk with God and that same fresh breeze that comes with all the “back to school” buzz can refresh all of us as well.

What better time to jump into Koinonia Institute!

I have recently returned from what I called our “KI Southern Exposure Tour” and was blown away by the interest of so many in terms of using our KI curriculum for so many different things—from the college classroom to the studios of Taekwondo workout facilities!

While in Jackson, Mississippi and Nashville, Tennessee we forged relationships with churches that are using KI for Sun-day school classrooms, midweek Bible studies and Small Group gatherings. The online portion of KI has created the opportunity to mix and match and has become increasingly effective when dealing with all of our crazy busy schedules.

I would like to encourage you this fall to take a KI class and see if this online format would work for you. We have done our best to keep our costs as low as possible in order to allow as many as possible to become a part of this amazing new re-source.

We are rapidly approaching 3000 Members in the Institute and we are now in 62 countries around the world! Our costs are as follows: $20 a month, $200 a year, or $2000 for a life-time membership.

Before closing, let me share something that my wife and I read during our morning devotions this week. This is an excerpt from Sarah Young’s devotional, entitled Jesus Calling:

Time spent with Me not only increases your trust; it also helps you discern what is important and what is not.

Energy and time are precious, limited entities. Therefore, you need to use them wisely, focusing on what is truly important. As you walk close to Me, saturating your mind with Scripture, I will show you how to spend your time and energy. My Word is a lamp to your feet; My presence is a Light for your path.

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
