“Bringing the world into focus
through the lens of Scripture”

The Piece Process

God’s judgment is beginning to seep through the cracks in the dam here in America and we do not have enough fingers to plug the holes. I am not sure if we are in the last days; I believe every generation that has been on the face of the earth could make that claim, but I am certain that Judgment is coming our way! Why?

For behold, in those days and at that time, When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land. They have cast lots for My people...

Joel 3:1-3

Take a look around and assess the morality of a country that was once referred to as one nation “under God.” The United States of America is in a steady moral decline. In the ’60s we took prayer out of our schools. In the ’70s we legalized murder and called it abortion. In the ’80s HIV/AIDS and homosexuality was introduced in our culture and was soon accepted as an alternative lifestyle. In the ’90s our highest elected official, President Bill Clinton, broke his marriage vows by having an affair with an intern.

And now, in this century the decline is picking up speed! A recent Gallup poll found that, for the first time, Americans who favor the rights of gay and lesbian couples to marry outnumber those who oppose it.

When asked the question if same-sex marriage should be recognized by law, 53 percent of respondents said yes while 45 percent said no. The late David Wilkerson wrote:

God is going to judge America for its violence, its crimes, its backsliding, its murdering of millions of babies, its flaunting of homosexuality and sadomasochism, its corruption, its drunkenness and drug abuse, its form of godliness without power, its lukewarmness toward Christ, its rampant divorce and adultery, its lewd pornography, its child molestations, its cheatings, its dirty movies, and its occult practices.

And it was Billy Graham who quipped:

If God doesn’t judge America, He is going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!

So, if all this is true then why have we not been judged but, conversely, have been arguably the most blessed nation on the planet? The answer is found in the first book of the Torah.

I will bless those who bless thee and I will curse those who curse thee and in you all the nations of the world shall be blessed.

Genesis 12:3

Although one could argue concerning America’s wholehearted allegiance to Israel, it is true that we have been the one nation in the world today who has sup-ported the Jewish state, and for this reason I believe that not only have we been blessed but that God has withheld a much-deserved judgment. But as I see the proverbial “handwriting on the wall” and see the dams of judgment breaking, I am not sure how much longer we will be the blessed nation.

Why? Let me refer you back to the opening passage of this article taken from the book of Joel. We are forcing the hand of Israel, in the most aggressive way to date, to divide the Land in what is being called a Two-State solution.

Dividing The Land

I am fearful that what this administration is calling the Peace Process is nothing more than a PIECE process and that the words of Joel will come to pass and we will inherit a whirlwind and tsunami of judgment.

Remember the phrase “the mountains of Judea and Samaria” and, before we carve things up and do our best to force Israel back to their 1967 borders (which creates an indefensible state), let’s reflect Biblically.

Did you know that Bethel, Shechem, and Shiloh would be cut out and given away? The heartland of the Patriarchs, names like Abraham, Jacob and Joseph are all attached to these places.

And if we go back to the 1967 borders, that would include: the Golan Heights, Gamla, the Jordan Valley all the way down and including Qumran. And in 1967, the borders of the Old City kept Jews on the other side of the Old Walls, in other words, no Jewish Quarter, South-ern Steps, Temple Mount, City of David … have you a clue in what we are asking Israel to simply give up for the prospect of peace? By the way, how has all that swapping Land for Peace worked in the past? Just ask the folks in Sderot!

The Land belongs to God and He gave it to Israel. One can even see the engraving of the name of God (HVHY), just above Bethel (see photo, left), where Jacob laid his head and saw that vision of a stairway to heaven in the region we now call the West Bank. This very area I am talking about is what we are now in the process of cutting up and giving away.

I am also reminded of Jerusalem, where the city it-self is laid out in the form of the Hebrew letter SHIN, with the Kidron, Tyropoeon, and Hinnom Valleys, with both Mount Zion and Mount of Olives in the middle and in the eastern side (see map, right).

The SHIN is the letter that is found on the mezuzahs and phylacteries, which stand for SHADDAI, translated the “Guardian of the Gates.” The SHIN, like the YHWH, is etched in the land itself! I just wonder what God’s views are about giving all of this away? See Joel 3!

Now I know that in the end these events are inevitable. My Israeli friends who are Believers have pointed out to me very clearly that when we enter into the time which we generally refer to as the end times, Israel is standing ALONE!

Even the U.S. will walk away and no longer stand or support Israel. I fear we are seeing the beginnings of that. My response is to call those who have ears to hear to take a stand and say Lord, if at all possible, “Not on my watch!” I will not be silent. I will stand in the gap. I will scale the walls and sound the shofar because of what I see on the horizon. I will pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

When the books are opened I want my name listed among those who took a stand for Israel … How about you?
